Inside the pages of Appalachia Bare, Edward Francisco and Delonda Shown Anderson bring Appalachia to life through firsthand tales of the richness, goodness, and unflinching realness of this beloved soil. These pages endeavor to portray a highlander's deep devotion to the enveloping mountains, the region's spirited people and ancestors, and the collective culture ingrained inside them. The region is celebrated for its lush, primeval forests and the hovering mystical haze among the mountains. How easy it is to gaze across the panorama through the eyes of pioneers, seeing the Scottish Highlands in the Smoky Mountains, or the dales of Donegal and Alsace in their backyard foothills.
